This variety of Eriogonum microthecum is found in eastern California, northwestern Nevada and southeastern Oregon.

Plants subshrubs or shrubs, 0.5–5 dm tall, 1–8 dm across; stems lacking a caudex, the aerial flowering stems 0.2–1 dm long, mostly floccose; leaf blades 0.8–2.5 cm long, (0.2) 0.3–0.6 (0.8) cm wide, densely white or reddish-brown tomentose abaxially, floccose adaxially, the margins rarely revolute; inflorescences 1–5 (12) cm long, the branches tomentose to floccose; involucres 2–2.5 mm long, tomentose to floccose; flowers (1.5) 2– 2.5 (3) mm long, the perianth yellow; achenes 1.5–2 mm long.
Flowering Jul-Sep. Sandy to rocky soil, sagebrush and saltbush communities, pinyon-juniper and conifer woodlands; (1100) 1900–3300 m.
