Eriogonum umbellatum var. glaberrimum

Plants herbs, compact mats, 1–2.5 (3) dm tall, 3–8 dm across; aerial flowering stems erect, 1–2 dm long, glabrous, without one or more foliaceous bracts about midlength; leaves in loose rosettes, the blades narrowly elliptic to elliptic, 1–2 cm long, 0.3–1 cm wide, glabrous and green on both surfaces, the margins plane; inflorescences umbellate, the branches 3–8 cm long, glabrous, with a whorl of bracts about midlength; involucral tubes 4–5 mm long, the lobes 1–3.5 (4) mm long; flowers 4–7 mm long, the perianth cream or whitish.

Flowering Jul-Sep. Sandy to gravelly slopes, sagebrush communities, aspen and montane conifer woodlands; 1600–2300 m; Warner Mountains of Lake Co., Oregon, and Modoc Co., California, disjunct in Jackson Co., Oregon.
